Security Reminder: Regarding the Google Cloud Sync Feature of Google Authenticator
2023.05.19 02:21:53 Read:12758

Dear Biboxers,

Google Authenticator has been updated to enable users to sync their 2FA codes to their Google accounts. However, this feature may lead to the loss of 2FA codes.

To keep your assets safe, we suggest you disable the Google Cloud Sync feature. If you have already updated the Authenticator app, please disable this feature in the following steps:

  1. Open Google Authenticator, and tap the profile picture in the top right corner.
  2. Tap "Use Authenticator without an account", and tap "Continue" to disable Google Cloud Sync.

Once you have disabled the feature, your Google Authenticator data will no longer be backed up to the Google Cloud, nor will it be synced across your devices. However, your local data will not be affected.
